Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 1, 2026
The short version: we never sell your personal information. We only use it to fill your orders, stay in touch with you, and share learning tools we think your family will love.
This policy explains how More Than a Kid ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit our website, join our mailing list, or buy from us, including through our Etsy shop.
1. Who we are
More Than a Kid is the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. Information we collect
- Information you give us: name, email address, phone number, shipping and billing address, and any details you share for custom orders or messages.
- Order information: what you bought, when, and delivery and tracking details. Payments are handled by secure third-party processors. We do not store your full card number.
- Information collected automatically: basic device and browser details, pages visited, and similar data collected through cookies and similar tools.
3. How we use your information
We use your information only to:
- Process, ship, and support your orders, including returns
- Contact you about your order, account, or questions you send us
- Send you marketing emails or texts, if you have agreed to receive them
- Personalize your experience and create custom products you request
- Keep our website secure and working well, and meet our legal obligations
4. Our use of AI
We use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to help personalize our messages and recommendations and to help create custom products you request. When we do, we share only the information needed for that task, and we choose providers that are not allowed to sell your information. We do not use AI to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
5. We do not sell your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by U.S. state privacy laws.
6. Who we share information with
We share information only with trusted service providers who help us run our business, and only as needed:
- Payment processors, to take payments safely
- Shipping carriers, to deliver your orders
- Etsy, for orders placed in our Etsy shop (Etsy's own privacy policy also applies)
- Website, email, and customer-management platforms that host our site and send our messages
- AI service providers, as described above
- Authorities, if required by law
7. Legal bases for using your data (EU, EEA & UK visitors)
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR, we rely on:
- Contract: to process and deliver your orders
- Consent: for marketing messages and non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to run, improve, and protect our business, in ways that don't override your rights
- Legal obligation: to keep records such as tax and accounting information
8. International transfers
We are based in the United States, and our service providers may process data in the U.S. or other countries. When personal data from the EU, EEA, or UK is transferred, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
9. How long we keep your information
We keep order records for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes, typically up to 7 years. We keep marketing contact details until you unsubscribe. We delete or anonymize other information when it is no longer needed.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- Delete your information
- Restrict or object to how we use it
- Receive a copy of your information in a portable format
- Withdraw your consent at any time
- Complain to your local data protection authority
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days and will never treat you differently for using your rights.
11. Marketing messages
You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any email. To stop texts, reply STOP. We will still send messages about orders you place.
12. Cookies
We use essential cookies to make our website work. With your permission, we may also use analytics and marketing cookies to understand how our site is used. You can change your choices through our cookie banner or your browser settings.
13. Children's privacy
Our products are made for children, but our website and services are for parents, guardians, and educators. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, or under 16 in the EU and UK. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
14. How we protect your information
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including secure, encrypted connections and trusted providers. No method of sending or storing information online is 100% secure, but we work hard to protect yours.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date above. If the changes are significant, we will let you know.
